Should have done this earlier .... better late then never, I guess. Here's a brief but detailed explanation on the characteristics of the sound frequency and its components. Happy reading ..... :) ***********************************************************Range: Bass, Low BassOctave: First and SecondFreq Range: 20-80 HzCharacteristics: Fullness, power; the boom of a massive car stereo system driving by. These are normally FELT ... not HEARD at times .. :p Eg: Lowest notes of a piano, tuba, or bassRange: Bass, Upper BassOctave:Third and FourthFreq Range: 80-320 HzCharacteristics: Has an anchoring, foundational quality; sense of fullness and bottom; balanceEg: Low tones of drums, bass, cello, and tromboneRange: Midrange, MidrangeOctave: Fifth, Sixth, and SeventhFreq Range: 320-2,560 HzCharacteristics: Intense; concentration in sixth octave sounds hornlike; emphasis in seventh octave is tinnyEg: Low vocals, guitars, tom-toms, saxRange: Midrange, Upper MidrangeOctave: EighthFreq. Range: 2,560-5,120 HzCharacteristics: Lower part of this range can improve intelligibility to speech, but too much emphasis makes vocals sound harsh; upper part can be defining, clear, and realistic; proximityE.g: Mariah Carey, Celine Dion.. Range: TrebleOctave: Ninth and TenthFreq. Range: 5,120-20,000 HzCharacteristics: Brilliance, sparkle; too much emphasis sounds like a hiss, enhances electronic noise*** CREDITS : IASCA MALAYSIA. ***

Van,

Can you add some lay man description on cross over? I am still a little bit blur on how this subject.

Also, can you add some comparative write up on staging using Time Alignment and non-TA setup? What's the merit of both and the implication in the equipment needed, hence the cost associated with it.

Van:
On your crossover article - can you kindly add on something on "active" and "passive" crossovers? Thanks.
