Message: <blockquote data-quote="viewfinder" data-source="post: 195634" data-attributes="member: 1704">Those one-time nuts exists and I recall studying about it during high schools industrial class lesson.  One of them is used on the E34 steering, called the steering lock nut which I recently replaced.  The result of a loosen nut, oil leaks.  Or worst still you don't want your struts to break lose...I would say you insist on the mechanic to replace them on the specific ones that you're aware of.  The mechanical engineers at the BMW wont to use them if they're redundant as it's not cheap as compare to regular nut.  But certainly not burning a hole in the pocket.</blockquote>
