http://www.tirerack.com/tires/tests/testDisplay.jsp?ttid=93:top: Plenty of rumours abt this no#1 tire but no one knows how serious it is....until TireRack finally included it in a recent testing. The winning tire was (reluctantly) included because of the strong rumours in some high-end european and usa and japanese websites that says it is every bit as good as the legendary Michelin PS-2 and cheaper! :listen: The final result was released much later for some commercial reason.

I forgot to include that TireRack did not include specifically Michelin PS-2 purely because of commercial reasons!

TireRack is a main protagonist (and a big dealer)for Michelin tires in the USA so it make sense.

But from the rivals included in the test which other tire testings (USA and European) have shown to be just as good as Michelin PS-2 or better in some areas, it is obvious this has caused some upset in the business.

so looks like sumitomo is a good choice. where do we find a local dealer in kl/pj to go check it out. or anywhere with cheap sumitomo tyres?

Actually, Dunlop and Falken are Sumitomo brands. Don't know if the HTRZ3 they tested will work its way here in some form though.

I was on Sumi 225/45/17 - but somehow, I dun like the floaty feelings. Plus - ur steering will wander according to the road contour.

You.. sure yours in the III version? Curiously, from the website (tirerack), the car tested was a 2006 BMW E90 325i Sedan.

Sumitomo HTRZ III is new here. I just called a Sunway dealer.

There is the Sumitomo HTRZ II which did not get any honours before.

A British Automag tyre test; it came out in top 3!
It also said the top end Falken models and a few other brands are actually manufactured by the giant Sumitomo Rubber Corporation in Japan.:61:

I had the Sumitomo II on my 18"s when I first got my ride. Nothing great about it, though the road handling was good in the dry and road noise was minimal. Tyre wear was another thing, but I guess that depends on my driving and the mileage I put in...

BTW, whats the price of these new III's?

Fantastic!

Good to see competition driving the price lower and quality higher.

Am fed up of paying close to 1k per tire.
