My 2001 E46 325i automatic transmission recently developed problems in that I could not shift (i) from N to D and (ii) from S to D, unless I row the gear stick about a bit. AB in Segambut adjusted the shift cable mechanism and (i) is no longer a problem. However, (ii) has not been completely eliminated - a detente/obstruction can be felt when I shift from S to D. AB Segambut suggested I replace the gearbox shifter cable mechanism which costs slightly more than RM2k for the price of the part alone. I declined on account of the cost.Has anyone faced the same problem and if so how can it be rectified? Thanks in advance.
