Send the car in for a diagnostic check ASAP, its likely that the sensor is spoilt.Drive Safe!
A week ago, I sent my E90 320i for a comprehensive service and diagnostics check. Everything went fine till 3 days ago when I got an error that states my engine oil level was low. It states "+1 Litre". I was very hessitant as I knew my car was not leaking oil but panic took over and I drove to a petrol station to add 1 litre of engine oil none the less. After topping up and driving for about 5 mins, I got the same error again. I called my mechanic and asked if it was advisable to add more oil. He told me not to and over the phone, I was asked to check for white smoke from the exhaust as well as to see if I could see oil marks on the undercarriage of the engine area. Nothing. So we both suspected that the engine oil sensor may be faulty. Though I was worried, I continued driving for the next 3 day to and from work (could not take time off to send the car in) and my engine oil level was indicating MIN all the time.I finally managed to send my car in this morning, and confirmed that the sensor was faulty, had to replace it for RM500+ inclusive of labour (Hella Brand).Well, just thought I would share this info with everyone, that if you do get the dreaded "+1 Litre" message, just add 1 litre and not any more. Send the car in for a diagnostic check ASAP, its likely that the sensor is spoilt.Drive Safe!
