X5 3.0d Vs Diesel Hi Ben, I just joined the club this noon. I bought a brand new X5 3.0d in July 2007. Until now, my X5 3.0d has reached up to 61,000+ Km and I always fill up the tank at Petronas and Shell stations. So far, I have not experienced any mechanical problems due to the diesel contents. Anyhow, for the first 60,000Km, I have enjoyed the free service from the authorised agent and regular services (three or four times) could be the main reason why my X5 3.0d is still running smoothly until today. Just to share my experience with you, for your info, Im also driving Rexton 270Xdi which I bought in 2004 (1st generation) and now she is already up to 185,000++Km. In early 2008 and late 2007, I have experienced miss fire during high speed and suddenly the water vapour filter indicator lighted on. Upon idling, the engine started to die down and soon after, I experienced very difficult to start the car. Having sending my car to a nearby workshop, I determined that both water filters were fulled with water droplets. (These 2 filters were never being serviced or changed before). I reckoned, that could be the reason why my Rexton was experiencing the miss fire. I hope, X5 3.0d has a better filtering mechanism that could automatically filter or discard the excess water/vapour in the fuel tank. The I-Mob seems doesnt have any indicator to alert the communication system but I believe the indicator is available on the panel board. Anyway, I hope by now, you are already driving your brand new X5di. Always be careful while driving, you can hardly feel the speed, she climbs 172Km/h at exactly 3,000rpm within seconds. Drive safe and avoid any high speed tickets. TAQY- X5madani Johor Bahru
