Yo experts! What's the deal on these Taiwanese "replica" AC wheels? What's the quality like? Are they safe?Just as strong as originals, but not as light? How about the finishing? The price makes them really attractive....... just concerned about the quality and safety aspects. After all you get what you pay for.Would like to hear from some of you guys with first hand experience. Thanks

its the finishing more than anything...at least to me la

but the ori 16' type1 not light enuff to my liking, i haven't lifted the replica ones, hence can't comment but people said they are heavy

me never a fan of replicas anyway

:D i've been using ACs ori rims for the past eight years and i can tell you they are strong!! still have them now and after all these years they are still in perfect shape.i know somebody using replicas and after a few months the rim was already bent and giving him headaches..
i've personally lifted originals and replicas(18"s) and you can feel the difference where ori definitely lighter..but can't tell u by how much cuz i didn't actually specifically weigh them..
end of the day it boils down to u and ur priorities.. to me,the tyres and rims are probably among the most important parts of the car together with the brakes and suspension.i don't normally skimp on these items as they are related to the safety of ur car.

Bro,i'm using AC type III replica's 17"...
The handling = still there,(even nicer on corners)
Went in to a deep hole that day = alignment tak lari, rim pun tak bengkok :D but a scratch

using 18" replica for 3 months, ok so far and i think depend on the driving style and road condt.
I have been using taiwan rim on my civic no pro so far, many honda and evo driver used taiwan rim ok also.

i have been using taiwan rims for the last 5 years.. So far no problem is much cheaper... Suka suka can sell it or change another type rim..

i m using a recon ac2 replica for about 4 months far no problem and now gatal wan to change to AC 4 hehe

i've been using hamann hm2 18" replica for 1 year. so far no problem. the good things is cheap . the bad maybe replica doesnt good as ori laa but how many times we r going to test our rim up to the limit.

-syam-

seriously who knows is replica ?? How to different ? lets assume the rim and tyre is with the car !! Anyway to different it beside take out the whole rim and tyre out ?

:) there are subtle differences in terms of the looks,an afficionado shud be able to tell..but most people won't be able to tell the difference though.like
i said, its up to the person la..what are his/her priorities.
in terms of quality and strength of course originals are better but most people don't do high speed cruising anyways hence the replicas..but u better pray hard if u hit a stone on the highway while doing 200kph and u have replicas!!! just a reminder..and just my humble opinion.. :)

For those poseurs who like to look good, well, one can actually see the diff between the real deal and the fakes. So why even bother?

For those who actually DRIVE as opposed to just look good, well, how much is your life (or your loved one's) worth? Not like the fake Taiwanese (or whoever) manufacturers are going to back their products up with intensive testings and reliability evidence. Do they have a brand name to protect?

If you can't afford the real thing, just stick with what you have la... it's like buying a fake handbag for your gf from petaling street.

 my thoughts exactly...so its up to u.there's no right or wrong here,it all depends on where and how u drive ur car..and not to forget how thick ur wallet or what colour ur credit card is.but please remember safety comes first..
