Below is from The Star paper today. It seems like the driver of the BMW is ok or else he won't be available to record statement with the police. KUALA LUMPUR: A Mat Rempit (illegal racer) died in his bid to flee a police roadblock near KM2.7 of the Sprint highway early Sunday morning after his motorbike rammed into a BMW. Hafisuddin Wahid, 22, was heading to the city in the 1.55am incident. He died on the spot due to severe injuries to his head and body. Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias said Hafisuddin was apparently trying to escape via the opposing lane when he had realised there was a police roadblock up ahead. Hafisuddin's motorbike rammed into the BMW before he was dragged some 20m away from the scene. His body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post mortem. "We have recorded a statement from the BMW driver, who is in his 30s, to facilitate investigations," Abdul Razak said when contacted. He added that police were conducting an operation against illegal racing when the incident took place. Police seized 41 motorbikes in the operation; one of the men they detained has a previous record for stealing motorbikes. "Three of them tested positive for drugs and 151 summonses were issued in the operation," Abdul Razak said.
