On the way back from the movies this morning at 3 am, I came across the carnage of major accident involving an E90 and Mat Rempit. I guess what happened was this... the cops were having a major Mat Rempit crackdown operation down the road and this caused the Mat Rempits to U-turn to avoid the police roadblock and go the wrong direction along Jalan Damansara near the Petronas / Shell stations. As a result one of the Mat Rempits collided head-on with an oncoming E90. The E90's front was smashed beyond recognition with the bike still smashed into it. I hope there were no casualties but this is unlikely with the Mat Rempit. Also, I hope the E90 isn't one of our forumers. Anyone with news of what happen, please share it here.

Hate to say this, but I despise Mat Rempits. They caused a friend of mine into an accident 2 years ago in which he was really really lucky to come out alive. Car was totaled and my friend was in a really bad shape. Till this day he's still not 100% yet but making good progress as time goes by.

There are more and more E90s on the road. So number of accident involving an E90 is getting higher.

For the involved E90, air bag would had been deployed and my money is on the E90 passenger survive without a scratch.

I'm not so sure, AB cos from my limited view, the front window was completely smashed and even the frame had caved-in. The chances would have been better had it been a car to car frontal collision but with a bike, I have seen instances where the bike caved into the passenger compartment of the car. This instance looked like that.

Was in the 1330 news of TV3 today. the biker was thrown 50 meter and died on the spot because of head injuries. i don't know what to say

Hate to say this, but the biker was really asking for it, going in the opposite direction of 3 lane highway to escape a police road block and endangering not their own but also other people's lives.

Any news on the poor E90 driver? The fella was just going about his business and must have had a shocking experience!

Head on collisions of this nature would normally see the biker either smash into the windscreen/hood or go right over the car on impact. No matter what bike you ride when you hit the front brakes in an emergenecy the front forks (suspension) depresses and you are bound to be catapulted upon impact...how far you 'fly' is dependent on speed of the biker (upon impact) and not the car.

i see a lot of these buggers doing stunts and runs on the public roads in PJS1.. opposite the audi specialist workshop. the cops didnt do a thing man.

...cause most if not all rempits are children of govt servants or cops.

Below is from The Star paper today. It seems like the driver of the BMW is ok or else he won't be available to record statement with the police.

KUALA LUMPUR: A Mat Rempit (illegal racer) died in his bid to flee a police roadblock near KM2.7 of the Sprint highway early Sunday morning after his motorbike rammed into a BMW.

Hafisuddin Wahid, 22, was heading to the city in the 1.55am incident. He died on the spot due to severe injuries to his head and body.

Petaling Jaya deputy OCPD Supt Abdul Razak Elias said Hafisuddin was apparently trying to escape via the opposing lane when he had realised there was a police roadblock up ahead.

Hafisuddin's motorbike rammed into the BMW before he was dragged some 20m away from the scene.

His body was sent to the University Malaya Medical Centre for a post mortem.

"We have recorded a statement from the BMW driver, who is in his 30s, to facilitate investigations," Abdul Razak said when contacted.

He added that police were conducting an operation against illegal racing when the incident took place. Police seized 41 motorbikes in the operation; one of the men they detained has a previous record for stealing motorbikes.

"Three of them tested positive for drugs and 151 summonses were issued in the operation," Abdul Razak said.

Thanks, David. Glad the E90 driver is ok.

What's the position with Insurance though? In the case of accident between two cars, your insurance company can pay for the repair first (in case you are not in the fault) and then claim back from the other party insurance which won't affect your NCB. What if it's commercial vehicle or mat rempit, particularly if this other party is uninsured?

If accident between two cars like what you've mentioned is called "Own Damage Knock For Knock" (OD KFK) where you claim under your own insurance first and then claim back from the other party insurance which won't affect yout NCB.

However for any accident involving a motorcycle, then you will definitely lose your NCB if you claim the repair. You can't claim the motorcycle insurance whether it is insured or not. If you do not want to have affect on your NCB, then you have to do the repair under your own pocket money.

Therefore, the car is always at the losing end whenever there is an accident involving a motorcycle.

Thanks, David! But you sure on the motorcycle NCB part? I found that info very alarming cos a motorcycle at high speed can cause helluva damage as what I witnessed on Sunday. The entire half front of the E90 was destroyed beyond recognition! I won't be surprised if it's a write-off!

Yeah, that was what my frens from the insurance industry told me. We can't claim against a bike insurance.

Anyone here can confirm this ?

Scary...if I see a bunch of them I would definitely drive slower and let them pass. And try not to intimidate them further with beam lights. They are not worth it! I dun want their blood on my BMW :stupid:
