Hi there!I was told that removing the catalyst from the exhaust system will give it more power but will cause bad emission.Anybody done this and any advice on this?

Did my last month, just a little power more only. Cost me RM 550 for that.

Kinglazy,

Both the intake and exhaust of the 328 is finely tuned to harmonically harness the wave characteristic of airflow for optimum intake and scavenging effects for the exhaust.

Altering anything will compromise the tune, giving rise to common complaints of loss of low-end torque, for example.

i have taken out the cat converter , a bit more power onli , but the car run smmother ,

donald ,
why you spend so much on the removal of the cat converter...

Hi bro,

I had mine removed just 2 days ago, had to remove it beacuse rattling sounds were already coming out of it. After removal, apparently, i had much better response from the car but the noise level went up quite abit especially when i am using a AA exhaust system...One other thing that i din like was when i engage sports mode, the gears dun seem to change, it will just remain at low gears and pull high revs all the way until i have the sports mode dis-engaged before it changes gears. The sifus here, why does this happen? Does the removal of the cat converters alter the program for the gearbox emu?

Bro,

You sent RM550 just to have the cat removed? That's very pricey, it's just a cut and weld job only.

hmmm...now im thinking twice about removing the cat...better not huh...worried later got problem lor :p

Hmmm...why do seem to feel that I am a white lab rat. Hahaha.:p :yahoo:

Bro, I am not remove the cat, but replace with after market cat. There is a lot of brand out there, so I choose that within my budget, RM 250 x 2 pcs + RM 50 for Labour and SS piping.

I am now still studying on the performance, sometime few power but sometime not. Like Lee said, it may loss of low-end torque.

But one thing true is I have better mileage. :D

Will keep you guy posted after I sumarize the result.

if it's a manual - cut
auto - leave it. money is better spent on an expensive/ori rear muffler

I have taken out mine a long time ago. I replaced it with the bottle type muffler. More power I guess. It just cost RM150.00 to do. Very cheap.

I see....keeep la like dis...vinson...keep la...spend on something else lor :D
