Removing Interior

Again, sorry to open a new thread, seem i dun find topic relevant to my issue.My interior wood trim already crack and faded, driver side even torn already. Initially i can just pry off them without worrying the plastic behind damaged, then paste new trim over the damaged place. However, the handle area also open up, so no point to buy new trim as i will probably change door car in the future(Not now, low financial availibility...).So I plan the DIY remove all the trim, make it black inside the cabin.Question is: How to remove the trim safety without damaging the plastic behind? Anything need to be prepare(which can be bought at Ace Hardware Shop atlest)e.g. adhesive remover or cleaner, special tools to use? The back of my wood trim is a STEEL PLATE.Below is an example of my interior condition(the worst at driver side)
