This is an example of OEM E39 18" rim. Check out the tyre recommendation versus rim width. Sorry I don't have offset figure and bore size..

8" rim width use 245 tyres.
9.5" rim width use 275 tyres.

M Parallel spoke II - style 65
5 Series (E39)
8 x 18 Front: 245/40 R18
9.5 x 18 Rear: 275/35 R18

Part number:
- Single wheel, front : 36 11 2 228 950
- Single wheel, rear : 36 11 2 228 960

Some write up here, refer to Measuring Rim Width section. It seems it has something to do with the tyre profile as well..
