Hi Guys, Am thinking of getting a set of Alpinas for my E34 and would like to seek the sifus' advice on the recommended tyre size options as well as spacer sizes. This would be my first time running on a staggered set-up and so would appreciate the help.I'm currently running an E34 on Lowered Sachs Sporting Kit. As such, what would be the recommended tyre & spacer sizes required for for the following rim sizes: - 18 X 8"- 18 X 8.5"- 18 X 9"- 18 X 9.5"- 18 X 10" I hear that for E34, it'd be best not to run with a too wide a wheel width, so appreciate if you guys could advise on the recommended maximum width size as well. Also, as I'm running on a lowered suspension, would there be any rubbing to the fenders or shocks assuming I'll ride with a load of 3 adults in the back seat? All related advice and recommendations are much appreciated. Thanks in advance! :)

Hi Ron,

On my E34 I have Alpina staggered setup consisting of

18" Wheels 8J with offset 20 for front and
18" Wheels 9J with offset 24 for rear.

Tyres size are

18/235/40 (Front)
18/265/35 (Rear)

No modification whatsoever is needed. Infact it handles better than my previous 16" & 17" with offset of 13

If you have 8 or 8.5J up front the most appropriate tyre size would be 235 or 245
If you have 9, 9.5J for rear you should have at least have 265. Otherwise your tyres will look like a ballon.
If you have 10J then you should have at least 275

Whether you need spaces really depends on what is your offset.

Would be easier to advise if you could let us know your wheels offset

Bro, 10J or 9J pun boleh kena. All depends very much on the offset. I think any offset of lesser than 20 will need some modification of the rear wheel arch.

It's outer of the wheel that needs to be careful. Inside of the E34 wheel well has quite a bit of room.

Hi Guys,
Thanks so much for the feedback. Unfortunately, I don't know the offset of the Alpinas so that's why I'm abit unsure of the tyre sizing and spacers. The owner told me that the rim sizes are possibly (he's not very sure too):
18 X 8.5 or 9 for Front and 18 X 10 or 10.5 for the rear, currently running on 235/40/18 (Front) and 265/35/18 (rear).

I really like the Alpinas, but the primary concern is the rubbing of fenders as I travel with a full load alot on weekends.

Ron, ask the owner to check the wheels. All markings are there in the centre cap area. You have to be sure of the offset before you purchase the rims. No point having those rims and you can't fit them.

the fatest i used was 275/17 on 9.5 width on my e34....

but now all arnd 235/18....cheaper tyres....haha

Helloo sorry to interrupt..why dont we discuss this over dinner;)

OK, got the key from the owner to open up the rims amd got the info:

The size is 18 X 9J (Front) Offset 12, and 18X 10.5J Offset 20 (Rear)

Right, with this kind of size it must be the Alpina Original Design. The would have come off from an E31 850.

Yup, its the Classic Alpina design rim.
Woah, didn't know it came from an 850, no wonder the rims are so wide for the rear! :)

helloo have u all registered for AD...its just 2 weeks away
