guys..have some problem here.every time it rains i noticed that the rear passenger carpet (behind driver) is drenched with water (only the carpet, seats are dry and all other carpets are completely dry). i've tried to solve this problem once at the workshop, the mech there just put some silicon glue or something inside the door panel and manage to lessen the amount of rain water slipping through however problem still persist..water is still there everytime i check after the rain. i can recall the mech also told me maybe the water is slipping through the rubber door trim and lining whereby he suggest me to change it but the door rubber linings seem fine to me, without any tell tale sign of tear or leaks. i'll be glad if anyone knows or can suggest how to solve this problem once and for all, i'm just afraid that in time, the water will get the car body rusted into pieces:42:.. any other place on the car that water might have been slipping through?:106:pls help, thank you..

The CULPRIT here ,more likely than not, IS the rubber plug under the carpet upholstery. It probably has been dislodged or missing. Especially for E36 which is very easily dislodged from its hole ,also considering the age of the rubber by now. look UNDER your car ,in this case UNDER the rear passenger footwell of complaint , somewhere near the JACK POINT area. U will notice a small hole (if the rubber is missing or dislodged) the size of a 50 sen coin or maybe 20 sen ..can't recall/judge.. All 4 footwells have this drain plug .. Just check 'em. Hope this helps ... please confirm back if this is the culprit for you.. CHEERS!

thanx for the info bro:top:.much appreciated..will take a look into it didn't know about the drain plug before:eek:

by the way what's the function of this drain plug in the 1st place? its more likely to be troublesome rite? moreover if the car owner doesn't realize the car is waterlogged each time its raining until its to late and the car body is wrecked and rusted.

Cheers

yep..beats me..i wonder why too.. by the way, if the plug is still there, don't expect to see a black shining rubber..search for it..it might have hardened and became the same color as everything else down there with all the road grime and watnot..

bro ..another cause which i came across from another e36 was from the triangular glass rubber .. water tends to sip in and almost unnoticable ...

try to spray some water to the glass and then check it ....

amazingly the water from the triangular glass will somehow gets to your bottom carpet ....

I have this prob too whereby my rear driver's side foot well becomes wet. Initial investigation revealed that the water is coming from the air circulation duct under the driver's seat. I am going to take out the whole dashboard and see if it is true.

Hi Tamade7, how r u? Nice talking to you at MPS Auto!

There's one time some a/c water droplet came out & drip on my left foot. Only 1 time. It never happen then. Not sure why it happen only once but not all the time. Any idea. Since the car still under warranty, I will send to AB & let them check.

i have same experiance at rear seat on the left!

anyone with real experiance and solution??

This happened to me on my old Audi. Dont know if it is the same for BMWs. There is two plug holes in the engine bay. The holes get blocked by leaves over time. Then the rainwater enters into the cabin. The carpets at the back were completely soaked, took me a few days before it dried completely.
