Anyone experience this problem before - each time when i drove by a bumpy road/ uneven road, i can hear rattling sound coming from theback of my car (around the rear window blind area) as if some parts in the car are loose. Is this a common problem for BMW 320i cars?

Hello there,

Each BMW vehicle has its own unique problem..some might be common among owners and some of it truly unique to that said vehicle. You will need to send it back to your dealer and demonstrate the issue to them during the test drive so they know where and how to replicate the issue for troubleshooting. My guess is something is loose/broken; possibly inside the door but I could be wrong. Do let us know what is the outcome =]

To share, I had a similar mild rattle sound every time the car went over a bumpy stretch. I finally found the cause after being mystified for some time.

It is the lock sticks on the 4 windows rattling against the hard plastic rings.

I unlocked the car (so all lock sticks are upright), took some tape and looped the lock sticks near the top edge.

Now, when the lock 'shakes', the tape hitting the hard plastic ring is hardly audible.

Hope this helps. FYI my ride is a 328i.

cheers

Cool I've heard of this issue in the F10 thread but didn't know the F30 also suffers from the same issue.

I have been monitoring this for a few days now and strange as it may sound, the rattling noise does not surface all the time when I hit a bumpy or uneven road. There are times when everything seems just fine but there are days when the noise is almost constant, thanks to our Malaysian road which is full of pot holes and bump. I will sent it to the sc for inspection and hopefully the noise will be audible that time. Btw, mine is a 2013 320i.

the thing about the noise is that it doesnt always drop up at bumps per se, it pops up over any short stretch of road that mildly rattles the whole car.

it's damn annoying...

I experience squeaking sounds and from the rear previously, one caused by a loose bolt holding the rear seat, and the other caused by a broken bracket on the third brake light.

I found the noise by soft tapping each and every part of the seats, doors and etc before finally getting to the bottom of it.

Now, i am experiencing similar rattling noise as per AT-Sixx and gonna get it rectified when i send the car in for my service.

hope it helps :)
