problem with radiator expansion tank

hi..i got 318i se reg 99 saloon with crack radiator expansion tank this morning...the mechanic which help me said that is might be happening because my engine got head gasket problem which will cos me a fortune..have any body have a same experience....head gasket problem or just normal cracking and need replacement to it. tq..

Just change the expension tank. better becareful of your mech. Go to Ah Meng MSpeed USJ.

E46 expansion tank will almost surely fail every 80k to 100k km, nothing to do with head gasket. It cost only RM200 by the way....

change it. mine had a small crack and the radiator needs to be topped up once every 3 days. but make sure ur engine temp no over heat.

change your expansion tank every 2 years or 60000 kms even if it looks brand new...i had very bad experiences with this....also change all high pressure hoses like power steering hoses every 80000 kms as the clip deteriorates and can just come off spewing fluid all over...this applies to the 1999 - 2001 E46
