Dear seniorsI am new to BMW and to this forum .Hope to get some guidance from you all.I would like to get a price guideline for a yr 2000 E39 528 . [buying from owner].Basically the car is in very good condition and full record of AB maintenance. Thanks in advance.

Pls intro yorself 1st in the newbiezsssssssssssssssss sectionlah then only ask question...btw welcome to the club

Actually the price depends on various factors such year production, year registration, mileage, appearance/exterior/paint condition, interior, service/repair/maintenance record, specs (such as CD Changer, leather seat, leather electric memory seat, park distance sensor, TV/Navigation, some with sport package such as M-Sport Body kit, Sport Rims/Sterling, Sport Suspension, etc), number plate.. but average selling price I checked recently from various sources are as follow as per Oct 2007

96/97/98: RM 60-85K
99/2000 : Rm 85-110K

The 528 stop production around Sept-2000, and therefore some of them is recond with registration anything between 2001-2005. Of course with excellent condition and low mileage and expensive number plate you would have to pay a little bit higer than the average price, at the end it is subject to demand/supply and how desperate the buyer/seller at that transaction time.

Also some suggestion from other member before that you will need to spare another Rm5K for service and get the car in better shape after purchase such as replacing some of the tear/wear parts.

Insurance will be Rm2-3K without NCD, RM1600 for Road Tax, and another ~RM1K for JPJ inspection/transfer/loan application.

Also good to have a good trustable mechanic to do a quick check before you pay. If your car is just a normal look, than you might consider another:

RM5-15 K for some nice sport rim and tires
RM2-4K for some M-Sport body kit works
RM2-4K for latest lighting system LED and Angel light

Hope this helps..

I got mine for around RM100k in May 2007 and it has done about 150K km, and full service history with AB and is from direct owner. btw, it is stock standard with a lousy number plate ;)

Do bring a trusted mech with GT1 to check on major prob, and see a few more to compare if this one is not comfortable.

I sold mine 2000 E39 528i for RM85k to a dealer as trade in for my E90. I would think the dealer will sell it at least RM10k above the price. But mine was with sport suspension, Hamann rims and P-zero tires.

i bought a 2001 (reg Nov 05) UK spec 530i (the succesor to the 528i) in Aug 07 with 2 digit no.plate, fully M-sport with ori tinted windows and 52,000 miles on the clock for RM155k
