As most E46 owners will agree, the E46 lower control arm bush tends to wear out quite fast.I heard that polyurethane bushes last a lot longer, with claims that they will not perish. I also heard that they can improve a car's handling but in some instances at the expense of ride comfort.Would appreciate it if anyone who is using or has tried out the polyurethane bushes can share his/her experience.Where can polyurethane bushes be bought in Malaysia? And what's the price like?

:D Bro,

Can try hokomoto racing in Batu caves for SuperPro. Check their ad in motor trader

Don't mean to burst your bubble but you cannot replace the bushes for the e46's lower control arm. When they wear out, the arm has to be replaced as well.

ehh.. I thought the bushes can be changed... Only the ball joints can't be changed separately....

And there are PU bushes made for the E46 by Powerflex from UK...

btw, if u're looking for M3-offset PU bushes for the front lower control arm.. this is another alternative.. Can fit E30 and E36...

Lollipops...
what will they do to the front suspension settings?

sharper turn in as there's less rubber-play...
and it increases the caster for better high speed stability

I have been advised by M1 Kayu Ara that the bushes are sold and can be installed separately without changing the lower control arms.

yes Fabian after fitted with change of absobers, tires I can feel the grip at better then what I felt before, I am on standard shocks no lowering of car and Its good. Thanks to you Fab for the advise.

i changed mine to Powerflex as a precautionary measure. Heard of too many cases whereby if the stock lower arm bush wears out, it may affect the lower arm which are very costly.

And so i changed to the Powerflex PU bushes bought from motorsportsdivision. Ok so far. Did not notice any much difference in ride.

A word of caution: Make sure the installer know how to do it properly. I went to one BMW car service shop in d'sara and the worker almost put in the wrong direction till i questioned and we both had to look at the instructions! Needless to say that was the last time i visited that shop.

Some BMW workshops are just so duh when it comes to fitting non-OEM parts. They only knows how to fit in original/OEM parts. and when it comes to after market parts, they don't know how...

Thx for info. Btw, what your symptom experienced for worn lower arm bush?
I do seen it's leakage and harsh right. Generally lower arm bush not so durable for bmw car i would say.

happen to me too.. i have to look at instructions and advise the mechanic... my ride on Powerflex PU bushes.

I was quoted RM600 for SuperPro PU lower arm bush...by TyreZone. Didn't change it yet maybe soon. Please advice on the price is it ok or expensive.

I did mine at tyrezone recently, rm600. i was actually there to change my tires and the guy pointed out to me that the bushes have already kaput. It was late in the afternoon. I was too tired to negiotiate the price. I also want to know whether the price is okay. If they did have me for lunch, that will be the last time i visited tyrezone man...But service seems good to me.

Do i feel any difference in handling? Hard to tell, cos i changed the tires at the same time. Maybe i not that sensitive enough.

I have 2 sets of poly bushings for e46 lower arms, from Paul Grey in Australia. He markets them under "Grunts Bushings" (http://www.gruntsbushings.com/index.html) and he claims that they are not as harsh riding as the other ones available on the market.

The ones I have are brand new unused but for the earlier model e46 (smaller diameter - about 60mm) as there were 2 sizes on the e46 you have to make sure which one you have.

Asking RM 300 per set which is below what it cost me.

Goggo

Kshapawi,

goggomobils says it is below what they cost him. I wonder how much he paid for them.

I visited the website mentioned..is't it 75 US for piece? or are they cheaper here?
