Hi guys, anyone had their glass windows and windshields replaced for polycarbonate? after reading the papers on all these thefts where they smash you windows, got me thinking. Even with tinting it is still possible for them to smash the windows. went online and read on these polycarbonate glass which is used in motorsports to replace glass.Plus its lighter, but the downside is its not very scratch resistant and probably would discolor or haze up under our sun? anyone with thoughts on this?

competition cars have been using perspex windows instead of glass for quite some time to reduce weight.

Vandalism Safety Tips

Unfortunately, many of our customers report that their auto glass damage is due to vandalism. This section helps you learn how to prevent vandalism and what to do if you have been a victim.

Prevention is key.

Be certain to keep all valuables out of plain sight, and do not leave anything of great importance inside the vehicle when you're away for any period of time.
Also, consider the following safety precautions:
Make a copy of your driver's license, bank and credit card(s), passport or any form of identification to keep in a safe place at home
Create a list of the items generally carried in your wallet or purse
Park in well-lit areas
Lock your car doors regularly
Use common sense and listen to your gut
Contact your local law enforcement agency for additional tips.

What can you do if you've been a victim?

If you are the unfortunate victim of vandalism, start by following the below safety tips. These will ensure that both you and your vehicle are protected.
Contact your local law enforcement agency to determine if a report needs to be filed
Contact your insurance company if you have additional damage to your vehicle or consult them about property losses
If your wallet has been stolen, contact your bank to cancel any bank, credit cards and/or checks
If your credit cards have been stolen, consider creating a fraud report with all three credit agencies:
If your keys were stolen, consider changing the locks on your home
If your cell phone was stolen, contact your service provider

Technically there are hidden dangers of safety film and perspecs windows. If i am not mistaken for polycarbonate or perspecs there are not street legal if not mistaken as in accidents they pose a big safety risk coz they dont shatter. They can endup stabbing the passengers. Safety film or harden material can be a death trap as people inside also cannot break out.

You will have to wait for EMT rescue team who generally will carry a special tool which can break thru. well i cant speak for all but as far as i know senior st johns EMT carries them. Funny is this tool is easily purchase off the shelf if you know where and it can break thru any safety tint in a sec.

As a note if you have safety tint in car make sure you have something in the glove box or perhaps a steering lock which can help break the glass in case of emergency. stabbing a sharp metal at a correct place can help break as well.

cheers :)
