Totally confused with wheel offset. There are plenty of pages on the web which let you calculate the wheel offset, but none actually tells you what offset you can take take. For example this website: http://www.gruppeb.com/BMWwheels/fitments/It says: H = HIGH Positive Offset - E36, E46, Z3 & X5 Models - Typically +46, 40, 38 & 35 mm Offsets *What does it mean? Can a E36 takes all wheel offset from 46mm to 35mm?My original rim is 16 X 7 Offset 46mm. Can I fix a wheel 17 X 7 Offset 37mm?

Your 17 x 7 ET 37mm will move out extra 9mm compared to your 16 x 7 ET 46mm. You can measure the clearance between your 16 x 7 ET 46mm wheel and fender to see if you have enough clearance.
