Noise Over Bumps / Gravel Problem Collections

Dear all UDM owners either its a BMW E46 / other 320i, 325i, 323i, 330i, 330ci, 320d i think we need to compile all the related Problems on strange noise or sounds reported by everyone under one thread.So Far my problem are:#1 Steering Play (Looseness in Steering or Delay before Tire actually turns), Steering Play during driving accross bumpy or gravel road leading to sound of *Thud*Thud*Thud* can be felt especially to the steering wheel.***SOLUTION***Check Steering Coupling and Tie RodsNew PROBLEM:*clank*Clank*clank* sound when im passing speed limiter strip bumps (the so annoying low strip bumps thats usually around schools and hospital junctions)Its also obvious when passing through gravel or uneven road...After initial check... i found out Possible solution:#1 Brake Caliper Repair Kits#2 Loose Front Bushing???Anyone have similar problems?

Mine got very minor feeling as your description on your New PROBLEM but it was on my steering wheel or Loose Front Bushing i guess.

Yeah but i'm still searching and really want to understand the drive/ Wheel as well as the lower chassis related Elements... and what sound coming from which part and what is the connection and problem ...

It might be impossible to trace by just sound... but hey we are just human... learning from mistakes aint that hard afterall

Check the lower control arms and bushings. They tend to wear out fast on our crappy roads. Common item / issue for E46
