E30 owners/drivers, Wanted to share this article from this month's BMW CCA Roundel Magazine http://www.bmwcca.org/files/roundel/2006/Fraternal-Twins-August2006.pdf The salient/yummy points of the e30 project: S50/52 engine swap using mostly BMW OEM parts...engine slips in easily. -E28 Engine mounts-E34 oil pan-E21 brake booster-E30 M3 driveshaft-E36 M3 transmission-E36 M3 wire harness-E36 headers-Custom exhaust-Shrick Cams-BMW Motorsports valve springs-UUC 8lb flywheel-E34 M5 clutch-Full roll cage-CF instrument panel Looks damn good :D
 
This E30 looks really nice with the US S50/S52. US S50 is a stroke up M52.
The Euro S50 with individual throttles looks really yummy even on the floor is what i like. There are many conversion like this in the states with either the US or Euro S50.

Yep, I was drooling over the pics/article. Anyone here has a similar set up, would love to hear more as well as see some pics.

Last months feature was also very interesting.

They covered a beautiful fjord-blue 1971 2002 with a 2002 turbo body, powered by a twin-KKK turbo M54 engine (from a 2001 e46 330i). With 15psi boost, the setup whipped up 485hp!! They rebadged it as a 3002ttil ... awesome stuff, I'll try and find a reprint/pdf

Wow! The 3002Tii is fantastic. Now this would be a worthy project to start on.

Yep the feautred 3002ttil was awesome, certainly stuff that dreams are made of. Love the color too...

I really not good in taking pic's & posting them. So maybe can get someone else to do it.
 
The US engine swaps are very similar to the M50 Vanos swaps done here....and there are a few guys doing it here. So basically the swap guys can now just get the US M3 engine, and install in it and they have 240hp.

For the euro M3 engines...that requires more work...

It's hard to take pic of Alvin's car......most of the time it's in the dark corner of the workshop :p

cool...guys. Thanks for the follow-ups. Sorry, to be such a noob, I am just learning about the S50 swaps. Cheers. Harboring fantasies of buying up an e30 to make into a dedicated auto-x car. Just started to get into it via a local auto-x club.

The M52 swaps here are 2.5L so with the US M3 cams probably max out bout 200bhp. Car is ready for pick up.
 
Jim Conforti claimed an increase of 30hp if the US M3 cams are used in conjunction with his customised chip. That should push the output to about 220hp...pretty impressive for a 2.5 NA engine.
