Hey Guys,Currently siting in little old New Zealand, but heading over in a couple of months, ( work loads dictating )I am in to my older beemers, have four e23 7ers one is a SA spec 745, e24 6er,e30 325im, e34 M5, and a e36 318 daily.Would love to post pics but my laptop was pinched and it has all my car pics on it :102:I will be over for a couple of months this trip with a view to be relocating permanently, very exciting opportunity. Will eventually bring over M5 & 635 when everything pans out.Have checked out a nice e23 on the WTS forum, so look forward to joining you and settling in KL soon.CheersGrant ( oldskool745 )

Welcome to our little humble virtual abode, do let us know when the eagle has landed on Malaysian soil.. Maybe you can chat up with the gang during our regular meets.

Cheers Fabian,

Will def give you a holla when I hit the ground...........

Always good to have other beemer boys & girls to catch up with...........

Whats the parts scene like over there ?? From what I have been able to sus so far it is pretty expensive, even allowing for the current exchange rate from my end.............

Was thinking of setting up a supply network, but depends on the import charges & duties.......

Things are pretty affordable here both parts & cars, example, picked up my 635 as a project and it will owe me NZD $7,000 all finished, panelled painted, new suspension, 17' BBS, etc, that equates to approx RM $14,000.

Looking up same type of cars for sale they seem to be around RM $40,000 plus.

So thinking I will bring it over with me depending on what I will get stung for by customs !!

Anyway making short story long...........

Any info on duties & taxes would be great !!!

Cheers

Grant

a good idea you have there about the network supply thinggy .... hope to see more cheaper parts here ..as most of the parts here cost a BOMB

Welcome to the club bro :D I agree with bro Iceman13 hope you can set-up your supply network ... parts are expensive here regardless whether it's for an old model or new.

Welcome to the Club's forum... Hoping to meet up with you during our TTs here.

Where exactly [which state] would you be based at?

Hey,

Thanks for the welcome guys, keen to set up the whole parts thing, have good links for new & old bits, just need to sus customs & duties etc, but sure there will be an ability to bring things in a an affordable level.

I will have to check the lay of the land when I arrive but will let you know when I get settled as to area Blackcat.

Cheers Guys.

Welcome bro :D

Been to Sth Island. When I went there for holiday, there was big protests from Asians livin there about intimidation from NZ whites. Wrong timing and what a holiday. Bmws there much cheaper than M'sia.

Hey,

Yeah, thats one of the things that is a shame here, been a Kiwi boy all my life & it saddens me that there are people who are so narrow minded and shallow. The main problem here is that the slackers & loosers get the publicity, whilst the hard workers, e.g. new imigrants, every day Kiwi's, etc ( BTW, I view anyone who is in NZ and is not a tourist a Kiwi, and if your a tourist then hopefully you like the place so much you want to be a Kiwi !! ) just keep their heads down & get on with it.

It's the age old story of people who are not prepared to get of their behinds and do an honest days work complaining that people who are, are taking an opportunity away from them.................Too many years of a nanny state govt that keeps spoon feeding the slackers & leaches................( Sorry, but have no time for narrow minded racist & biggots )

Yeah, the protests were justified, there had been a bunch of thugs targeting asian women, on the belief that they tend to carry more cash around with them than most, one woman was killed as I recall, at the same time a dear old grandma was killed in her home during a bungled burglary, and the police were doing very little about it. The asian community drew attention to it & made the politicans & police get off their backsides and work with community groups to work towards resolving & improving things.

Yeah, country is beautiful, very special place, but then there is beauty everywhere in this world, I can't wait to check out all of the sights when I get over to Malaysia..............

Cars heaps cheaper over here, have a contact in Asia to talk to about bringing cars in Malaysia at a reasonable figure, which is handy............

Its the taxes that kill imports in Malaysia, but hey, govts have to make money somehow right.

Cheers
