And why does the E90 suck?

The W204 will show that Chrysler meddling will prove to be a continuing undoing of the once great marque. Case in point, the W204's front logo mirrors the tendency for US automakers to past giant emblems up front. On the same premise, the W204's styling is busy to suit the US ideal that bolder and brasher is better. The E90s lines looks so elegant and balanced next to the W204. In terms of the interior, the E90's look to be better built. Granted the W204 looks more interesting in design, but take a look at the navi screen, it looks so cheap coming out of the dash like that. I won't even mention how busy the dash look with the gazillion buttons all over. Dynamically speaking, time will show the BMW to remain as the driver's choice.

I thought the C-Class design was somewhat disappointing.

The back is worst than the E90. I would go for the E90 (Sports Package of course) next year when my E46 is due for replacement.

:)

I would agree with KL2DC and Toffeeman. The final W204 is disappointing to me ,when the spy pics showed promise of a more dynamic car. Instead it looks the same old, same old. Bland! The E90 still the one for me. :p

Where MB wins in this country though is the company and its distributors. I have nothing but praise for DCM and C&C since buying an E240 for wifey in 2005. Everything has been silky smooth. Their service advisers are knowledgeable (and pretty) And even when there was a brake recall, they offered to come pick up the car from my house or office. Insurance and road tax renewal is a breeze with everything transacted by email. Two days later, the rtax sticker is delivered to my office complete with copies of everything, including updated reg card. Pure luxury all the way. :)

BMWM and distributors on the other hand...I think they're still stuck in the 80s/90s. It was bad when I had my E36 and it sounds bad still from other forumers. I mean what's with this 325i Sports launch? Announce the new variant 3 weeks ago, and at first there was no pricing. Now, with 2 weeks to CNY, still no idea when even demo cars will be available! Potong stim betul! :(

They still behave like car distributors of the 80s and 90s. Motto: "Customers are Chumps." Even Proton and Perodua have upped their game!

Back to the w204, it would be ironic if DCM brings in a few demo cars before BMWM can sort out their E325i Sports non-event launch. :)

W204: combination of upgraded 190 front + Honda city tail light

Hmmmm.. both Merc and BMW are German design.. Why ask this question here?? Sure a BMW forum reader/owner will be proud of their UDM la..

Anyway, for me Merc build better quality cars.. "S Class only" and I heard numerous time from Top Gear / Fifth Gear programs that "C Class" is badly build.

Anyway W204 and E90 are both wonderful car, but E90 is cheaper but service ar dealer are questionable.

Because geoff, BMW fans are discerning people and even diehard 3-series buffs are likely to look sideways at other premium sports sedans like C-class, A4, etc :D

The C-Class is 'badly built' only relative to other Mercs because it's the entry level model, although now there are the Bs and As too. It's still more solidly built than other cars in the class, including IMHO the 3, although reports from forumers like KL2DC about the E90 build sound very promising.

Don't get me wrong, BMWM and AB are okay. The only thing I question is do they provide a premium sales and service experience that is commensurate with the premium price of their cars? It's 307k we're asked to shell out for a 325i Sports! The short answer IMHO is..."never have and still don't"

Agree with you..

Thanks

Don't let the 3 pointed star blind you....do the right thing. E90 for president!!!

:D

When I test drove the E90325i recently,I feel like driving Honda la.

If to buy the same class and catogories of car....I would go for Lexus or Toyota Mk 10.

my two sen la...

My dear friend... Even the ride of Honda can be as good as E90 but but... Honda will not offer the the status and reputation of BMW and also the design will not last long.

Sadly Zog, the 3-series has grown up and is no longer the raw sports sedan of E21, E30 and E36 yore. The E46 started turning lux and the E90 has turned even more lux. For a raw driving experience from BMW, we now have to think Mini Cooper S. :)

Lexus, Toyota and Honda are good...no...great cars. But they're not BMWs. And let's face it, for all of us a large part of owning a BMW is street cred. I mean who gets turned on by a Lexus, whether man or woman? :D

I'm speechless *

:D Like Schwepps said, the 3 series is all grown up, its not the E21 and E30 of yore. Its more like a mercedes than the last C-class ever was but with better handling and steering feel. Not sure where you got the Honda reference from but I excuse you for drinking and typing :p Hondas are great car but the two will never feel similar...not the Legend (RL), TSX, TL etc.

Well, the jury is still out until we can ascertain how the C-class performs. MB has never caught up with BMW in this department class for class and I think time will tell the E90 to be the better performer! Has MB closed the gap again?! I also don't think so.

Dude....:( aiya..I dun drink.
I dun take liqour...I cant have them in my system.

The E90 still feels like honda to me...:p

The last few years BMW has bitch slapped DCM pretty bad. As a result, we are all witnessing the frenetic pace of car launches by DCM. Just look at the current S-class and the one before....3 years interval? Similarly for the C-class and E class, more variation and now they are trying to project a more vibrant image by promoting the AMG segment of their products.

I think to a certain extent, the latest offerings from Stuttgart are pretty darn good....but BMW is still the king of the hill for the time being.
