As advise by the dealer tech: Replace the rocker cover.

But prior to that are you sure the installation of the new gasket is correct. If the rocker cover is being tighten to tight it will deformed the rubber gasket. That what caused the leak.

besides overtightening, you could also be using a substandard sealant. The one I used which is recommended by the mech is Victor-Reinz which can withstand up to 300c. So far so good.

But no matter how sealed it is, mind you n42s have a habit of leaking eventually as the quality of seals does seem to not last long...

Mine and another forummer's vacuum pump and cam solenoid o-seals both changed twice in a span of 1 year... :(... the reality of n42s....

the important area to watch out for is the vacuum pump area which is behind at the end of the engine block...if it leaks you just change the 2 o-rings in it (1 big 1 small). Dont have to replace the entire unit as its purely mechanical unit, no springs nuthing. Mechs who ask u to change just clearly wanna make some moolah as the unit cost 800-1k depending on who u go to :)

Hope this info helps. Cheers.

Sometime it's the oil cap gasket. Check out my blog.. some useful tips there..

Mine suffer from leak and serious oil loss too.. I recently changed my rocker cover gasket, refit my oil housing gasket and flipped my oil cap gasket. If still leak, am suspecting the eccentric shaft sensor O-ring [item 7 below]
