[QUOTE="coffee, post: 624173, member: 26577"] While doing some spirited driving on Sunday night, my transmission suddenly had a 'konk' sound....then it started behaving in a funny manner. There was juddering when the rpms are too low, as if the torque converter's auto locking function is not unlocking. It was still drivable, just that the the gear changes felt a little 'nervous'. Anyway I knew it was about time. The car had been running on its original transmission, unmolested, for 200,000km. It was high time for a rebuilt. So i sent it to MSpeed yesterday morning for a diagnostic. No fault codes either from the gearbos or the engine. So looks like its a purely wear and tear in nature. Went to check on it in the evening again. They had taken down the transmission and sent it off for a rebuilt. Apparently the torque converter was still good, but the clutch plates had lots of wear. It was recommended that i change the pump too. So it will take a couple of days for the rebuilt and cost some money. I the meantime I rented a Saga for my transport needs. I really miss my car and really look forward to get it back in a few days, with a healthier and stronger transmission no lest! Here are a few pics, with the transmission un-mounted.
