to all sifu....i'm wondering what happened to my car...suddenly loss power to accelerate..and the ability to perform kick down...changed my spark plugs, ignition coils...diagnosed ...but no fault code detected..A mechanic told me maybe the kick down switch kaput..Need to hear some advise from fellow sifus here before heading to workshop...Thanx for your comments..

Mana ada kick-down switch? If there is one, then I haven't heard and/or came across it. Check your cam shalf sensors.

yes, there is one. Probably you never floor the accelerator pedal hard enough before  or you did not realize that it is there..to test it, just press the pedal all the way (without starting the engine) and right at the end of pedal travel, you will feel that there is click like you press a push on button..

Bro Shaifuddin,

From my experience, the lost of power is due to my gearbox sensor. I'm not sure where it is located, maybe at the bottom of the gbox itself. Second hand RM500 for it. The PRND sign on dashboard missing when it happened. Anyway, your issue mungkin lain lah.

I would say most likely camshaft or crankshaft sensor..which workshop did you go to to get the error code read.
You are more than welcome to come by my house (just about 5 mins away from yours) and get the INPA/ediabas to scan your car

bro...before this when i tekan 180km/h, i can still perform kick down and the rpm dropped to 2500 and burst to 5500 at no time and acceleration from 180 to 220 in split seconds.....but now i have to tekan sampai lantai.....baru ada kick down....

M54 (drive-by-wire) don't have the kick-down switch and hence I did not feel the click everytime I floor the accelerator.

Yes, u are right.

I just check and i never know that m54 doesn't come with the kick-down switch aka sudden power button.

mine is m54 and there is definitely a "click" when floor the pedal. and i experience it while driving. probably different pedal module between jap spec and euro spec. I know that kickdown switch is not listed as individual part, maybe because it's considered as a whole unit with accelerator pedal..

Arrrr..i am getting confuse now.

From what i reading, m54 has the kick-down switch!

No physical kick-down switch can be seen, perhaps done electronically?
