OK, I'm not good in writing and please do forgive me on my red indian language; but i'll try.

Material

Matte black PVC sticker, 12" X 9'-0" (more than enough). Bought it at Sunway (beside Dai Ichi) for RM20

Tools

Pen knife
12" metal ruler
Pen/pencil
Test pen (to push the sticker where your finger or nail can't go in)

DIY Procedures

Cut the sticker as size below:

26mm X 9'-0" X 2
35mm X 45cm X 2
25mm X 9'-0" x 1

Please note that the unit used here (metric and imperial)

Please refer to attached image

I used the 26mm X 9'-0" sticker for trim panel no. 21 and the similar one for the front door. The balance of the sticker go to portion "A" of trim panel no. 1. Trim any extra sticker. Mirror image the procedures to the other side.

The 35mm X 45cm sticker were used at portion "F" trim panel no. 2 but it need to be cut into 3 pieces cause of the bend. Each piece should be overlapped the other approximately 5mm. The balance of the sticker goes to portion "E". Again trim any extra sticker and repeat the procdure to the other side.

The last 25mm X 9'-0" sticker to be used at portion "B", "C" and "D" with again 5mm overlapping.
For trim panel no. 14, it need a very small pice approximately 35mm X 15mm.
Repeat again these procedures to the other side.

Now all the stainless steel/chrome trim panel already covered and I still got a lot balance of the sticker and i used it for panel no 5 and 7.

Tips

1. Try to minimise air buble during the proces, If still got, use pin to blew it and push again the sticker.
2. The 5mm overlapping are necessary cause the PVC sticker will shrink after a while
3. Do not use a single piece over a delicate bend cause it is really difficult
4. Cut the balance of the sticker from the trim panel really carefull especially where the rubber lining exist
5. Stick the sticker along one side of the trim first before bend it to the other side.

Good luck to who ever want to try.

Very nice one strider bro!

Thanks for sharing the knowledge. Kudos go out to the 'advisers' as well - puss in boots and master koryong!!

This is what makes joining the club worth it.

I'm newbies here and I learned a lot from the masters and sifus here. Definitely the big thanks goes to them, not me.

Yes, this is a wonderfull club.

Seriously good work on the car and as well as the instructions Strider.

2 questions. What exactly is pvc tape? Secondly, where is Dai Ichi in Sunway and what happens if I have the chrome sprayed over by a body shop (sorry 3 questions).

Shops says will last for a number of years but have heard otherwise. Anyonw with a painted experience? Thanks guys

It is a sticker made from PVC or plastic (definitely not paper). The advantage of this sticker is it can stand the weather especially water compare with paper. The other advantage that I can see is it is a little bit elastic and with this characteristic you can bend it and still can have a smooth surface once it stick. (you cant do this with paper sticker). Hope these help.

If you are coming from KL using the NPE highway, once you reach Sunway Pyramid, slow down a bit. Right after Sunway Pyramid take the second left exit (where the red and white barricade are). Go straight and watch out on your right side where there's a row of shop lots. One of it is Dai Ichi. The sticker shop right beside it. Hope this will help you.

I'm not so good in this but as far as I know, for metal especially, stainless steel, you need to use primer before you can paint it. Otherwise the paint won't last long (means it is easily peel off). I used to have a pail of marine primer before given to me as a sample by the supplier. It is very very good compare with the ordinary primer especially with regards to rust even though it is a water base primer. I used it for a metal that exposed to the weather 24/7/365 and it at least five time better than the ordinary one.

The sad thing is I can't remember the product brand. :(

Check with your painter, if he use a primer, the paint will last longer.

If you already paint it, why need to paste a sticker? The sticker will peel off once the paint peel off cause the adhesive only stick to the paint.

Once again, it is just my 2 cents
