hey guys,where is mircofilter located and what is their function,i saw so many people in the maintenance thread posted that they replace their microfilter,but my mechanic told me that my 97 e36 do not have a microfilter,need advice on how often to change them too thanks guys in advance!

All e36 should have microfilter. It is located under the driver dash board.

Remove the cover under the steering wheel.
There is a black cover about 6" by 1" size located just on the centre of the console.
After remove the cover, you should see the filter.

Note: Due to the design, the extraction and insertion of the filter is obstructed by the steering column. You have to break it into 3 piece in order to insert back the new filter. :stupid:

When the airflow from the aircon duct feel not strong at maximum speed, then change it.
