When it comes to torsional rigidity it does not really matter hollow or solid. What matters is the design of the hollow (OD and ID) and it can be more fine tuned for the same outer diameter. Main difference is weight. Hollow does not make it more comfortable. Actually, when you add the ARB you can hardly feel the difference in ride comfort.
