M colors vs Black stitches

Hi All, I notice there are 2 versions of the M steering for E46, those with black stitches and those with M colored stitches. Any difference between the two?, based on production date or other logical reasons? whereas for E39, i only saw colored stitches, never black ones. Do they exist too...or only for E46
