[QUOTE="kimi yap, post: 569826, member: 22271"] Basically there are 3 type of OBD interface from E46 -> E90 LCI (i think same to other BMW series) (1) Older E90 car (Pre 3/2007) or E46 - Communication through K-Line bus. (2) Post 3/2007 - Communication through DCAN bus. (3) >2009 - Communication through DCAN bus but also support Ethernet connection. In the market, if you see - K+DCAN cable, meaning it supports all models until 2009 car and DCAN cable doesnt support Pre 3/2007 car? Why we dont have 1 cable for all? The reason is, the same pin (pin 7 and pin 8) in OBD, are configured differently in pre 3/2007 and >2009 car. - Pre 3/2007, Pin 7 & 8 is KLine bus. - >2009, Pin 7 & 8 is Ethernet bus. If we plug in a K+DCAN cable into your LCI, the KLine signal will interrupt the OBD interface as the LCI car treat it as Ethernet signal, so the software & OBD will not work properly. Solution > To enable the K+DCAN to talk with your LCI, just disconnect the PIN 7 & 8 internally, everything will work fine. If want to talk to E46 or pre 3/2007 E90, just connect back the pins.
