Update... problem fixed... well... almost.. I ordered diversity amplifier antenna from Ingress, cost me Rm850+. Replaced it and now the remote works from 5 meters away. Have not fully tested what is max range. The FM reception seems to be the same, more sensitive now, need more testing.... However, 2nd key fob still cannot unlock. It can lock and wind up window, open boot... but the lock button has no response. So, confirm the key is busted. In summary, if you have problems with the remote, following is the step by step procedure: 1. Change batteries - order ML2020 (not VL2020, the legs do not fit) from eBay, very cheap, Rm18 each. Cut open the key fob casing (case destroyed), unsolder the old battery and solder in the new battery. No need programming or anything like that. 2. Clean diversity amplifier contacts - open up, take out and sand paper the contacts and clean with alcohol (here's a guide: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/showthread.php?t=442784&page=2) 3. Replace diversity amplifier - order from AB or Ingress, make sure you get the right replacement part, most probably your current one part number no longer available. Check realoem or bmwfans. 4. If you destroyed your key fob casing from step 1, you can buy replacement from eBay, around Rm36 each. Good luck!
