What's more costly are body parts, undercarriage overhaul cost, front & rear bumpers, body & rubber trimmings.  If undercarriage overhaul is carried out using original parts, then I would say it should last at least 3-5 years. In my opinion, a used 1997 E38 728i car price is already very cheap now (New was around RM400-500K) Just set aside a bit like RM10-15K to refurbish or rebuild the whole car and you would be smiling all the way.  Trust me, once you have driven an E38, other models seems meaningless.</blockquote>
