More than 1 month ago I sent my E39 2003 to JKS Auto Transmission since my torque converter are showing sign of slipping. Actually found the workshop from their Mudah advertisement. From their facebook it claim they have good experience in repairing a wide range of car including the German marque. So made appointment and sent my car there.

Was quoted for RM4500 for the exchange of my gearbox to their recondition gear box including torque converter and workmanship. Their recon gearbox comes with 6 months warranty provided you do 3 atf oil and filter change(all chargeable)

My nightmar start when after one week when I send my car to Optimum for normal service. They pointed out that my gearbox was leaking beside my power steering rack. So had Optimum repaired the rack and then few days later drove to JKS to have them check and repair. They claimed leakage not from gearbox but my powersteering rack is leaking. So brought back to Optimum and they confirmed it was the gearbox that was leaking. While driving it back the transmission failsafe program came on and the auto transmission was 4th and 5th gear only. I called Ah Fai and asked him what could possibilly be the cause and he said auto transmission shop needs to change the heatsensor wire in the gearbox. So took it back to JKS and told them my problem. Have to leave the car for a few days and when I picked it up he claimed that all leakage and wire had been change. He also claimed my auto gearbox ECU was faulty and when a head to change a new unit (RM1800).

So thought that was the end of my headache. Later that evening I could not start my car. Called JKS the next day and he said my earth wire connector in the battery was faulty. I opened up the cover at the back and found that my battery was loosen. So I tighten the battery and both connectors and that problem was solved (wondering why JKS dismanttled my battery and didn't bother to even put it back correctly).

A week later the warning Trans failsafe program came on again and the same gear lock happened. After much thought I realised it happened in the evening when I was caught in the jam. Again I went to Optimum for them to diagnose the probelm and the same heating and gearbox slipping came out. Ah Fai also said the gearbox is still leaking. To prove his point he washed the undercarriage to recheck.

Next day took it back to JKS. After much arguement and his claim that he was right as he was the best, he finally check and admitted the gearbox was leaking. He agree to make a change to another gearbox but now say that the gearbox will come with 1 month warranty. The car is still in his workshop while I'm writing this.

Sorry if this is a long note. All this back and forth between workshops and all the time wasted and not to mentioned the cost of it all that got me really riled up.

This is definitely makes my worst workshop nightmare list.

Thanks for sharing. Feel for you. So many so called gearbox specialist advertising on popular online sites and print media. The couple oft mentioned and getting overall good recommendation by forummers I haven't seen them advertising.

JKS Auto Transmission part 2.

Took my car back from JKS Auto Transmission back on Thursday after 4 days in their workshop. Was given assurance the overheating and leaking was rectitified

Immediately I found my gear shifter to be loose and after overnight parking, oil stain still appear on my floor. Feeling frustrated I decided to send it to Optimum and let them look at it again. It was the same leakage from the gearbox. I have decided for Optimum to repair it rather than taking it back to JKS(although still under warranty). I would retaher pay a couple thousand ringgit to some one reliable that making my 6th trip to JKs for the same problem.

Now I understand why the JKS owner car workshop business failed few years ago after working as car salesman for sometime.

I would never go back nor recommend any of my aquitance to go their even if its free of charge.

Sorry to hear your predicament, mate. I believe whenever comes to servicing your car at a new place, it is always good to get some real world feedback from people before sending the car over. Heard of JKS before but don't think they are well known for their transmission services. They were heavily promoting their services on Facebook though. The only famous boy in town I am aware of is M-Scope Batu Caves.

Glad you found Optimum though. I believe Ah Fai and Jason will do a good job.

Thanks bro. Optimum was my regular workshop for years so I trust them with my car. This transmission mishap was perhaps my inner wild side of there will always be as good workshop out there. I made a few calls to jks to enquire amd their claims to have expertise in german marque was quite impressive. In fact he claimed Ferrari and Porsche owners also sent their cars to him. So I thought maybe give it a try. And boy was it costly on my time, money and lots of headache. I should have heeded when his dad told me previously he filed in both as car salesman and car workshop untik he started this.

Just putting it out there to warn all forumers

I was thinking of using JKS when my GB have problem. Call them and ask a few question.
The person could not answer some simple question. Didnt try them after that.

I am really very surprised that JKS would even dare to call and/or advertise themselves as gearbox specialist!! Repairing/overhauling gear transmission whether auto or manual is relatively simple as compared to repairing/overhauling an engine.
