Guys, Just to share announcement from TM since notice even this site response quite slow. Maybe they host it outside Malaysia. So you guys will not wondering why the connection is slow & bitching TM for the services. Yeah if you on other telco/provider you may not face it.:smokin: Telekom Malaysia Berhad (TM) wishes to announce that its consortium members have detected a cable fault on the Southeast Asia-Middle East-Western Europe 4 (SMW4) submarine cable network between Alexandria in

Mine's been extra slow... no wonder la... so it's not just the usual slow-ness but extra slow.

Mostly international browsing is affected. I had some issues loading local websites yesterday as well even when I'm bouncing my connection off a server in Jaring.

I was bitchin the ISP for their extremely slow network connection the past few days. Barely can load a page completely...

big content provider like yahoo, google, youtube, FB, wikipedia, microsoft, flickr etc & their related sites will have big cache service in Asia..so unlikely u will feel the disruption, unless u browse less popular sites from US or Europe. Meanwhile, local browsing wont be affected by this smw4 cut. I'd imagine TM have 20-30% of their IP transit west bound via SMW4, so they cud be running at high (near maximum) IP utilization currently to make such announcement that the cut will affect their service.

surf on mobile la...maxis, digi, celcom arent affected by this cut. For example, try youtube on Maxis 3G, better than Streamyx....sure no buffering one :top:. But must be on 3G, dun la u on 2G, EDGE or GPRS and try...sure koyak!

Hmmm.... as someone who does not take matters at face value...is the reason given by TM really true or for some other dark dubious reason normally forwarded by conspiracy theorists... the options are interesting...:smokin:

Like I mentioned it might not effect user from other provider. You Tube on Maxis 3G better than streamyx? Lets not generalize the statement. All Telco got their strenght & weaknesses. Altough competing each Telco has their own customer segment.
Same like car ler, some like BMW, some Merz & some 4X4. Would we say Merz is good on off road? Masing masing cari makan. Yeah I work with TM but I never generalised other telco service. By the way Maxis got vacancy arr?:smokin:

Since streamyx is ADSL technology which riding on existing PSTN (fixed line) network,
it is very much depend on the infra condition. Eventhough ADSL is on best effort basis, you should get minimum 70% from subscribed speed. May I know which area? Have u tried checking yr internal wiring. The connection from TM Distribution point at nearest TM post to yr house phone socket. Hv u ever officially report to 100? Yeah I know it sucks to get thru sometimes but it is the best way to report & get report no. So it will properly log into the system. After trying & get the result if still prob without getting proper explanation maybe its time for you to Potong hehhehe:smokin:

i'm using Streamyx at home and Maxis 3G for mobility...my statement was based on presonal experience...didn't mean to generalize.

thanks for the explanation bro. I've never made an official complaint. the only time i made a report was when line was interrupted. Twice. It seems the port problem (not too sure about the terminology) and after a few times reset then ok. Just happy to have connection :( My area is in changkat bandar utama in a condo.
i dont have a choice in terms of BB provider la.

Bro, better make official report 1st ok. mmm in condo? that is hassle to check out the internal wiring, maybe can check out wt condo mgmt oso. U should get at least 700k. In KValley u should hv more option, only that not many Telco willing to invest on wired technology coz it damn expensive!

Ha ha... sorry bro, but this is me having a go at letting my imagination run free... so one need not take this seriously...however, to explain in lay person terms... I'm saying maybe this 'works' done is for another reason... bearing in mind that now M'sia had decided to get itself off the US Watchlist for internet piracy and get those who downlod movies illegally (its in today's news)... one never knows
