Update @ 23/9/2011 Issue resolved as follows: - 1. 2nd hand wiring from a donor UK spec single vanos 1997 E38 which connects instrument cluster to RDS player 2. VDO ECU got fried due to the shorting caused by the "switched" wiring. Can use old unit but airbag light and ASC light will not show, this module burnt on VDO ECU 3. RDS player works fine now 4. Flash reprogramme of VDO ECU for cluster programming...only god knows what this means!! All old parts kept at mechanics place and will be collected as evidence. Next step, will ask my friend to go back to the original workshop and ask Supervisor and Owner to own up. If they attempted to conceal a booboo, pls pay up for the remedy. If adamant still that nothing was done wrong, with my friends permission, I will publish the name of the workshop and then I am confident all hell MAY break loose Hang ten, the end is in sight and hope to unravel the mystery within the next week or so P.S - the more I consider the scenario and speak to those well versed with electrics and these technical stuff, it points more towards the direction of the workshop concealing a booboo, which has gone terribly wrong
