Got this from the net & have noticed a major improvement with my Firefox. How to speed up FirefoxHere's something for broadband people that will really speed Firefox up: 1.Type "about:config" into the address bar and hit return. Scroll down and look for the following entries: network.http.pipelining network.http.proxy.pipelining network.http.pipelining.maxrequests Normally the browser will make one request to a web page at a time. When you enable pipelining it will make several at once, which really speeds up page loading. 2. Alter the entries as follows: Set "network.http.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.proxy.pipelining" to "true" Set "network.http.pipelining.maxrequests" to some number like 30. This means it will make 30 requests at once. 3. Lastly right-click anywhere and select New-> Integer. Name it "nglayout.initialpaint.delay" and set its value to "0". This value is the amount of time the browser waits before it acts on information it recieves. 4. Reboot your PC.If you're using a broadband connection you'll load pages MUCH faster now!

Sometime some image attachment also cannot see. it there any default that you can tweak to ask the browser to load the image. On MSIE, I can see the avatar and image attachment...

Very nice! To understand this a little more, what are the values permitted for the above step? Is this measured in miliseconds or seconds? I think Jarance's problem on image loading is due to this additional setting.

Thanks, Eldrow. Was very blur when Jarance asked about the image thing.

Not very computer literate... he he he

aiyaa. kc don't worry if you don't know lah.. I thought that with you starting the thread that you would know some if not the detail of the tweaking. Not many people would play with the configuration unless they know what is going on..

Next time I will ask you more about spec and eyesight.. especially the "low fah" eye.. ha... :D . Don't know whether it is appropiate to talk about this subject in a car forum..

Here's one for you Mozzie folks. I surf other forums and sites and i'm doing ok (well, mostly). But when i get to this very bmwc forum, it asks me if i want to connect via dialup, broadband, etc. I mean, hello? i'm already connected and the pages are loading up. So i hit ESC anyway to get rid of that dialog box. Funny thing is that it happens only to this site and no others. Can someone explain this? Or is it one of my settings somewhere. FYI, IE6 doesnt ask me that question. (I'm on XP Pro if it matters.)

the webpage loaded much faster for me after changing the setting......

eh, i changed the setting, but it seems to be "eating" up some of my RAM is it?????
can experience a freeze sometime when i open 3 and above tabs....

You have multiple concurrent threads/streams, so yes, that will take more resources, not much though.
