BMW has came up with revised versions of the parts in 2011. Badboyz3 & Mavik has got theirs replaced under warranty. An out of warranty job + parts will cost around RM7k at the SC, with chunk of the cost coming from labour alone (RM5k).Timing chain (3), sprocket (3), chain guides (4) and chain tensioners (2)It is however should be noted that fault is not the chain itself but excessively sharp sprockets which causes the chain to wear & fail prematurely. Excessively sharp edges were present on the sprockets, the chain does not flow evenly over the guides.Engines affected are those produced from 01.03.2007 to 01.03.2011.Of course one can always listen to the engine to check for potential signs but problem is unless one is an expert, what you hear will only be the diesel clatter.</blockquote>
