If u hv bothered to research a little prior, the only part that is left out on our local versions vs European specs is the omission of the diesel particule filter (dpf). To make things simple, the dpf is to the diesel what the catalytic converter is to the petrol engines. And we all know the positive effects on performance when the catalytic converter is removed. On this same principle, it is even likely that our versions are more powerful than our European cousins. And this may explain the very impressive dyno results above official BMW hp/torque ratings which Paul tan did with a few forummers here recently. Search his blog for the results. Friend, when u hv enough time in the 320d, you will finally appreciate that frugal practicality and true performance is no longer a myth. The diesel clatter heard outside?  Bro, you are seriously missing the forest bcos of one tree. I came from another turbo b4 the 320d and I did say that once on a turbo, u will always go turbo. I need to qualify that statement now 'once on a turbo DIESEL, forever on a turbo diesel'. You have just tasted the forbidden fruit</blockquote>
