Started getting this error message on my E60 2 weeks ago. Researched the forum and Possible causes of the problem:

battery
alternator
IBS Sensor cable
any electrical component drawing high current
Action taken:

Alternator - replace new 5 months ago
Battery - replaced new on Saturday 5th Dec 2015
System reprogrammed after installing new battery (Din 100)
Wireman checked for any "current leak" - no leak detected
Sadly, error message pops up every morning after car being idle overnight. No error message other times of the day when the car is started. Questions:

How do I check (before replacing) if the IBS needs to be replaced ??
can I drive car normally without causing any/further damage to electrical components
( I understand from AB service advisor that should we replace our battery (original) at AB, they recommend that we also change the IBS cable)
