Message: <blockquote data-quote="NKTOB" data-source="post: 312835" data-attributes="member: 2762">Hi drmalvin, Your case is often heard on similar N42 engines, as well as the other member of "not reversing" issue. N42 parts are more expensive to maintain than the older member of M43 which is a proven robust engine brought forward from the fame E36. As the rest have pointed out, a top overhaul may be required to solve your problem. The dealer should at least compensate your repair bills other than saying "we can't check....." Otherwise, lesson learnt is tht to send a car for a full inspection b4 commiting to a buy. Good luck and keep us posted.</blockquote>
