Hello all!Am new here (duh obviously :D).Never owned a UDM before and exploring the option of finally getting on the bandwagon with either an E34 525 24V manual (yea, I know, super rare and difficult to find) or an E39 528i manual (yea still dreaming :)).One of the classifieds here caught my eye which is an E36 328i converted to M3. Never really targeted an E36 but M3 leh...very tempting :) However, what is the maintenance like for a high performance machine like this?Cheers!Weiming

Thanks for the welcome! Got to be patient I guess :)

I wonder if it makes sense to go for a 520i with a manual gearbox first and then change the engine to the M50B25 down the road. Should be less complicated than going for the 525i auto and then putting in a stick shift right?

Also, based on what I have seen on Mudah, all the manual E34s I see are running what brand of gearbox?

I have e34 1991 m50b25 auto 5speed for sale if you are interested. It is auto but can easily converted to manual. Changing g.box is cheaper than engine I guess. Cheers

Can consider :) Open to all and any options!

The Ford Ranger T6 looks mighty appealing too :p

All my vehicles are 2 seaters so now looking for a more friendly 4/5 seater but must still have some performance or at least possibility of adding performance. I am also a weekend mechanic so prefer cars with simpler electronics so I can tinker on my own time :)

Thank you!

I am still looking for my UDM. Have narrowed down to a few options which I am exploring in further details :)

Have viewed a couple of E34s but so far none have met my expectations/standards. 520i are really too anemic for me thus has to be a 525i minimum but the engines don't seem to run smoothly as I suspect none of the examples I have seen have ever been re-built/overhauled but are transplanted engines that are also high in mileage and run on low quality engine oils.

Based on what I have come across, it appears that the interior plastics/trim/vinyl/headlining of BMWs don't seem to age/wear well. I am pretty particular thus still looking...now have expanded my search to include MB W124/6 too (blasphemy here I know :p).
