Dear Friends,I bought a pre-owned 320i M Sports from AB KL.And have been suffering with the air-cond for the past 17 months.Have been complaining since 1st service BUT problem still not solved.The Smell is "mouldy" and has a "powdery" effect.I have been coughing, sneezing & having constant sore throat. I tried complaining to everyone in BMW BUT no use.Just want to know if there's anyone out there having similiar problem?And Found a SOLUTION?Thanx in advance.Ed.

Possible aircon gas leak, have it check at Naidu.

How many miles have the car clocked?
If the car AC system has a clogged condensate drain hose and/or the previous owner has been using the air conditioning a lot, your evaporator would not be able to dry fully and fungus will start growing on it. Hence your allergic reaction to the pollen being blown from the vents

But the most fail safe method is to have a specialist take apart the dashboard to take out and thoroughly clean the evaporator.

My warranty still valid until Apr 2013.

You may seek an allergy expert to check your climate control system and to check the pollutant from it.
Would seem things are getting tricky here. There can be two sides of the story:
1. AB really has done what they can and really have changed the evaporator coil and checked and approved the air conditioning components' condition. If this is so, then there could be some other cause of the problem.
- Take out your floor mats and see if there is any sign of damp or wet spots in the footwells.
- Wind down your windows and leave them partially wound down in the door panels during a dry afternoon. Let the sun heat up the door metal panels and then wind up your windows. Is there any wet spots or condensation forming on the glass?
- Check your fresh air intake activated charcoal filter if they are dry and in good condition.
- Does the smell get stronger in the afternoon sun or after you've left the car overnight? After a thunderstorm? Does switching between "Fresh" and "Recirculate" modes make any difference?
2. AB being AB, they may have lied their arses off to avoid the hefty costs of servicing the air conditioning system. In such case you would need legal advice to try and get some heat on them.
As anaksarawak suggested, it would be helpful if you have a doctor or specialist who can help find evidence of poor air quality coming from your car's AC.
Btw, you might wanna censor off your personal details in that letter from AB

Go to Pantai Specialist hospital at Bangsar, look for Dr Amir an allergy specialist. Sorry I don't have his number.
