So you may fiond it impossible to find 1999 M52 Single vanos from any of the shops.  But look at this this way, if the 2nd hand engine to be found has an excellent condition compared to your current engine, it doesn't matter if it's a year or 2 older.  The japanese engines 2nd hand are all generally in very good condition. If the present engine overheated, why are you not considering performing a top overhaul which cost less than buying another engine? Normally these BMW engines can be overhauled/repaired to a very good condition , Japanese engines are the ones campak buang when there is damage.</blockquote>
