Dear all BMW otai, I ve been followed this forum for past 10 month....I plan to get the used UDM E90, please enlighten me....how much is the cost for maintenance and etc...

Docrayboy just received a quotation for an ATF job for his 320d.. for RM2.5k .. :13:

Maintenance greatly dependent on wear and tear, which directly related to the number of cylinder, usage and mileage.. my 52 months 71k km old E90 is 4 cylinder averaging 350km/week or 50km/day. My maintenance bill remain manageable.. :4:

I would say 4 cylinder maintenance is about 25% cheaper than a 6 cylinder mainly due to the amount of engine oil used. 4.25L vs 6.5L

There's an E9x maintenance thread: http://www.bmwclubmalaysia.com/forums/showthread.php?36828-E90-parts-amp-maintenance

Good luck!

If you do it outside of authorized service centre (BMW Specialists), it isn't expensive at all. I would say it cost more or less like maintaining a Toyota Mark X :) Unless something major fails, your normal servicing should cost around +/- RM550 range (engine oil, oil filter, labour). To be honest, servicing a BMW on a BMW specialist costs more or less like servicing a Honda Accord in Honda Malaysia SC's.

Wahahaha I was part of that chat. RM2500 is just to replace ATF and filter which is integrated into the oil pan. That is official dealer price, under the tree mechanic is obviously less.

Back to the original topic, maintenance is not just a mechanical thing. Don't forget your aesthetics (wax/polish, leather conditioner etc), tires (runflats vs regular) and technical doodads you add to the UDM (map updates etc).

Come, let's build a list of what we heard.. :4:

~ ABS pump and module cost RM12000. To be precised, RM6000 each item, excluding labor
~ Xenon module/controller/ballast RM1800 each
~ Gearbox cost RM7000 for complete overhaul
~ ATF and strainer replacement job RM2500
~ Xenon bulb RM600/pc
~ Front wishbone RM4000/side
~

I believe these are authorized SC prices? The first few items are expensive parts and even for Japanese cars it would cost thousands. My friend's Toyota Harrier ballast also cost that much for a replacement, lol. I don't go to authorized SC, even for all my previous rides the moment warranty is over :) I save quite a bit doing it outside, works just as well for me.

actually there are many competent BMW workshop in Klang Valley. if it is not under warranty or BRSI, then u can buy part from distributor and let them do it. it is not that expensive. easily 20-30% less than BMW SC. u can always use all those OEM parts maker for BMW example ZF ATF, ATE/TRW pads, Melye, SWAG, SACHS, Lemforder, Bodge etc. those are equilvalent to so cal ori BMW parts.
