Hi guys Has anyone changed their heater coil/core in you cars. If you have where can get and is a used unit from the chop shop advisable. MinE is leaking. I think thats where the water from our radiator is dissapering to. Check with naidu while changing the cooling coil he say hard to find, check with spare part shop cost about RM700 but no stock. By the Naidu did an excellent Job on my car changing the AC Cooling coil. No rattle after fitting back the Dash board. now AC in car like north pole

actually i have thought about deleting the heater from the system alltogether but have not come to the point of actually doing it simply due to the fact that i am still not able to get a suitable hose to bypass the heater matrix.
the set up on the e34 is similar and on my previous e34 the heater was bypassed and it ran fine.seriously, the heater just adds problems in our climate ie it heats up the center console to a certain degree and gives more avenues for the coolant to leak.
i really do not think that this will throw the climate control system off balance as there are no sensors that monitors the coolant temp in the heater matrix............

i did the heater bypass on my prev E36. Aircond damn cold.

is this the same as the heater valve?
In my case, I changed the heater valve. Symptom: Rear aircond warm, front aircond cold. Gas okay.

With the E39, since it is climate control, I decided to keep the heater function as it is. When the heater core went faulty, I got it replaced. brand new, but bought at Eng Soon, Singapore. Not too pricey though compared to msia prices

My E36 heater core was removed and the mechanic just put spark plug to block the hose and clamps to secure it (done before I own the E36). For the longest time, I was thinking wht on earth is that... haha...

That said, 2 skool of tot:
1) change the heater core so that you enjoy dual climate and air con temperature control.
2) delete the core and u fix your temp to a setting (a norm practice I believe if you delete the core since the a/c takes reading from the heater core) -- not sure who can confirm this, this is wht I was told

Or... you can do alot of hack job to make a/c works like a a/c without the core. (still trying to learn this from friend, according to him with the a/c working properly, it will improve FC since a/c is not activated all the time, only when it's not cold)

Anyway i manage to get a good used heater core. My mechie told me today that he did the removal of the heater coil and block the hose for one e39 owner but later had to put it back originaly cause the AC was too cold.
