hi all....i need to ask something... hope someone can help me.my current headlamp, the lowbeam is converted to HID by previous owner (the highbeam still the same)lately after driving a while, the HID will start blinking... :(i dono whats wrong...if i shutdown the headlight and on it after few minutes, it will OK back a whiledono is it expensive to repairanyway, i like to askwhat parts need to be change when the process of changing to HID?if i need to change back to original bulb, what i need to change back?thanks in advance all.

If going back to ori, use H1 bulb. I find hella bulb have better focus than other brand.

When HID blink, it is one side or both side blink.

If both, it could be a loose fuse or power relay.

If one side, it could be the bulb or the ballast.

oooh,
mine is both side also blinking....
the fuse box looks ok.. no loose fuse.

is there any other parts i need to change back to normal
beside to buy the bulb?
cause i not sure what else is involve...

To change back to ori you'll only need to change the bulb.

Also when you see the HiD blinking like what you did, most like it's grounding issue or the ballast for the HiD is damaged and is about to go boom.

oooh... than i better change back to original one...
i dono why it stop blinking after i switch off n on back again

And hopefully the person who did the modification did not cut off the original connector.

Aiyoo, dont be so bad as the frighten our friend that ballast or bulb will go boom..

LOL it's true la but I didn't literally mean that it'll go "BOOM". I just meant it'll be dead soon. :)

A few of my friends who had that blinking problem usually find their HiD dead within a week or so depending.

Oh no, Joker appears in this thread too. What's the message now Joker? The "bug" causes the blinking too? If you start your "bug" topic again... I think you'll get banned :) Just don't post on people's topic if you wanna talk about "bug" again.

Sam1741,
My HID blinks some times too. Lately, the right hand side HID doesn't light up when I switch on my headlamp, maybe the bulb problem or the ballast? Been using this set of HID since January 2008. I dunno...usually if it doesn't light up, I will turn it off and turn on again, then it would be ok.

Just to share!

Sam1741-Blinking is likely to be caused by grounding.

Russie-HID dont light up when switch is on could be caused by loose relay in the fuse box (if you are driving an E36). Cut a small piece of styrofoam and place it above your light relay. Make sure u slice it nicely so when u close the fuse box top, the styrofoam wedges itself between the fusebox top cover and relay. This pushes the relay downwards and completes the contact. Works for me. Previously i had to turn my light switch on and off a few times before my HID lights up.

hi all
since now my low beam is HID
and high beam is normal bulb

Are you sure you want to do that? HID take time to charge up in order to get full intensity. If you swap it, you cannot use it to flash people. :stupid:

Even ori is low beam is HID and hight beam is halogen bulb. In original, the hightbeam is assist by the HID when a flap is lifted to get the full intensity.

edit:

Today i check again...
damn... the previous installer put the ballast somewhere behind the bumper
so unless i take the whole light unit off, and take off the bumper
i cannot access the ballast. :(
so i cant even switch back to normal bulb...
