Recently I noticed my handbrake release button does not come out fully (half buried in the hole). However the handbrake can still be released. Question is.... how did this happen in the first place and how can I get the release button to protrude out more? If I need to open up the handbrake, hopw do I do it? :( :( :(

I think the hand brake handle is begining to slip out sometime when u release the hand brake. U just have to push back the handle in, in the oppsite direction. The button is ok dun have to do anything.

c-square,

yeah, pussy.... not enough stimulation to make the "nipple" protrude out.

tried tugging at the "shaft" last night when I get back and hey, it worked. Managed to get the button to protrude out to the right length. Thanks, guys. :D

OIC, you have to tug instead of stroking the shaft to get the button to protrude out.. :nyehehe:

so who says BMW maintenance is expensive?

here's a perfect example where maintenance is FREE!

Ha ha ha.....

Luckily, not everything is high-tech and need to come from Germany...

Imagine if you sent this into some official workshop for rectifying... how much would they charge?

Fixing handbrake lever................ RM 0.00
Sending technician for course...... RM 20.00
Rental of AB workshop..................RM 100.00
Marketing & promotion..................RM 50.00
Office aircond.................................RM 10.00
Total RM 180.00

C-SQ,

This is how i did mine.

Had the same problem as u, so i yanked the sleeve out, cleaned the rod and the sleeve interals. Gosok sama dia.. B)

Then I taped some double side tapes at the end of the rod, near the button.

Lastly, pushed like hell to shaft the rod with the sleeve!!!

What this does is to "lock" the sleeve into position, and it never runs out ever again.

U can try this the next time yr sleeve decides to run the rod...

Mine, cost me a business card. Thats what I had in there ever since I got the car. Still considerably cheaper than any repairs that I had spent so far.
