I have seen a similar case (sludge) of a used UK e60 525i at my mechanic workshop. Quite impossible to remove the sludge as sludge has turned into sticky glue black tar. End of the day, sludged engine was replaced with a used Jap spec e60 525i engine at a price of RM25k. My friend of mine recently bought a local CKD 2008 LCI e60 523i. The 1st owner had the engine replaced FOC during warranty by AB due to similar sludge problem. Mileage then was 56k km.
